The Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries (Abiec) and the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA) state in a joint statement that the adoption of safeguard measures by China on the importation of beef "alters the conditions of market access" and "imposes a need for reorganization of production and export flows". The entities highlighted that the quota allocated to Brazil will be 1.106 million tons in 2026, with a tariff of 12% for volumes within this percentage and an additional 55% tariff for exceeding volumes, resulting in a 67% tariff outside the quota. "In 2025, Chinese imports of Brazilian beef totaled around 1.7 million tons, equivalent to 48.3% of the exported volume.
