REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Coordinating Ministry for Foodstuffs (Kemenko) has set the industrial salt balance for the chlor-alkali plant (CAP) in 2026 at 1.18 million tons, while imports of non-CAP salt will only be opened through a specific condition mechanism if domestic production is insufficient. "For the salt commodity, specifically for the CAP industry, it is set at 1.18 million tons," said Deputy for Coordination of Trade and Food Distribution at the Coordinating Ministry for Foodstuffs Tatang Yuliono after the meeting to determine the 2026 Food Commodity Balance in Jakarta, Tuesday (30/12/2025). Tatang explained, the meeting's decision summarized the proposals from businesses that had been verified by the ministry/relevant technical institutions before being discussed at the directorate level and decided in a ministerial-level meeting.
