Starting January 1, 2022, Portugal's agri-food exports to China will face new regulations, as detailed by the General Directorate of Food and Veterinary Medicine (DGAV). These regulations apply to the mainland and exclude Macau and Hong Kong. The regulations categorize exports into high and low-risk groups, with high-risk products including meat, dairy, and aquatic products, among others. High-risk producers will need a recommendation letter, a list of qualified establishments, and a declaration of compliance, among other documents. Meanwhile, low-risk product producers will need to register in the 'China Import Food Enterprises Registration' system. Additionally, product labeling changes are required, with some products requiring labels printed at the time of production.
