According to statistics from the Kachin State Department of Agriculture, from April 2025 to January 2026, over 157,200 tons of tissue-cultured bananas were exported to China via the Ganpati border crossing in Kachin State. As of the end of January in the 2025-2026 production season, the banana export volume was 157,200 tons, which is a decrease of approximately 45.4% compared to the same period last year when it was 287,900 tons. The current export price of bananas is 2,520 Chinese Yuan per ton. The main routes for exporting Burmese bananas to China are the Waingmaw-Ganpati route and the Bhamo-Momauk-Loi Jaing route, with most of the exports currently passing through the Ganpati border crossing. To export bananas to China, exporters must obtain certification from the General Administration of Customs of China. Although there are 46 certified banana production companies in Kachin State, currently only 15 are exporting. Due to the detection of pesticide residues in some plantations and products from some companies, according to the regulations of the General Administration of Customs, exports have been temporarily suspended, and only companies that meet the regulations can continue to export through designated channels.
