The European Commission has approved a state aid scheme to support poultry slaughterhouses and egg producers in Member States, affected by liquidity shortages and losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The scheme, part of the State Aid Temporary Framework, will provide direct grants to eligible recipients. The aid amount will be calculated based on the increase in frozen poultry or eggs produced between 2019 and 2020. The aid will be capped at € 1.8 million per slaughterhouse and € 225,000 per company engaged in laying hen rearing.
