(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Han Ju-hong = The Central Headquarters for the Containment of African Swine Fever (ASF) confirmed on the 8th that African Swine Fever had been detected at a pig farm in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province (housing 1,100 pigs). This is the ninth occurrence nationwide this year. According to the Central Headquarters, the farm where ASF was detected is owned by the representative of a pig farm in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, where ASF occurred last month. The Central Headquarters dispatched an initial response team and an epidemiological investigation team to the farm to control the entry and exit of outsiders and livestock and vehicles to the farm, and plans to cull the pigs raised at the farm in accordance with the African Swine Fever Emergency Action Guidelines (SOP). The Central Headquarters issued a 24-hour temporary movement restriction order to workers and vehicles at pig farms and slaughterhouses in Hwaseong and the five neighboring cities and counties (Ansan, Suwon, Yongin, Osan, and Pyeongtaek) in Gyeonggi Province. The Central Headquarters urged related agencies and local governments to make all-out efforts for quarantine measures such as rapid culling, thorough inspection, and intensive disinfection to prevent the spread of ASF, and asked farmers to comply with basic quarantine rules. juhong@yna.co.kr
