Between September 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021, Turkey, specifically Trabzon, saw substantial activity in anchovy exports, with a total weight of 1,059 tons sent to five countries, generating revenue of $4,671,512. This represents a significant increase compared to the same period last year, with a 33% rise in income and 49% increase in volume. The exports were facilitated by four companies, employing over 2,000 people, and were mainly to Germany. The government is considering the clustering model, similar to Norway's, to further boost the fishing industry and increase exports to the point of reaching $1 billion. The industry is currently on a trajectory of growth, with plans to improve facilities, increase cold storage capacity, and enhance research and development. The ultimate goal is to establish a single source for exports under the Turkish brand, following the examples of Japan and Norway.
