Argentina has introduced a new Japanese-style plum tree variety, Silvana INTA, developed by the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA). The variety, a cross between Letizia cultivar, has a spherical fruit of about 110 grams with a two-tone skin and sweet, slightly acidic pulp. The plant requires specific winter cold conditions for development and is self-incompatible, requiring planting next to a compatible variety. The new variety is available to producers through INTA, aiming to diversify and increase the profitability of their farms.
