Lawrence Massasso, a grower from the Far North region of Queensland and a director of the Australian Avocado Association, said that the surplus avocados are flowing into the international market, with exports reaching record levels. This season, 20% of the Shepard avocados in Australia are being exported overseas, compared to 10% in previous years. Matthew Watt, the general manager of Watt Exports, said that international demand, particularly from Asia, has increased significantly.
