[Reporter Hong Lan, Korea Farmers' Newspaper] The Korea Forest Service is making a complete overhaul of its wildfire response system to prevent the recurrence of large-scale wildfires. As the importance of initial response grows, the firefighting authorities will be granted initial response authority going forward, and in cases where a disaster-level wildfire is feared, the Korea Forest Service chief will directly command regardless of the scale of the wildfire. The Korea Forest Service, in conjunction with related ministries and agencies including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Fire Agency, the Police Agency, and the Meteorological Agency, announced the "Comprehensive Wildfire Management Plan" on the 22nd. This plan includes nine implementation strategies covering all stages from prevention to recovery. The core focus is on rapid initial firefighting through the mobilization of all available resources.
