The international avocado market has experienced a 29% increase in exports from the Southern Hemisphere and Mexico for the current season, with Mexico being the dominant supplier. Peru and Chile follow in second and third place, respectively. The Hass variety makes up over 99.7% of Chile's avocado production. The Valparaíso region is the leading area for exports, accounting for 65.4% of the total in the 2021/22 season. Despite the high domestic prices, which make avocados attractive, a significant portion of the produce remains in Chile due to its high per capita consumption.
