In 2023, Bahia became the leading fruit producer in Brazil, with a total of 253.9 thousand tons, marking an 8.3% increase from the previous year. The state is particularly renowned for its passion fruit production, with Chapada Diamantina being the largest production center. The municipality of Livramento de Nossa Senhora was the leading producer, harvesting 44,395 tons, despite a 5% decrease from the previous harvest. Other municipalities like Ituaçu and Barra da Estiva also contributed significantly to the region's production. The success of fruit growing in Bahia is attributed to its favorable climate, diversity of soils and water resources for irrigation, and continuous investment in agricultural technology and advanced cultivation practices.
