Tomato farming has significantly improved the economic situation of many farmers in Godagari Upazila, Rajshahi district, making them self-reliant and contributing to local economic dynamism. This season, the cash crop has brought satisfactory yields and prices, with many farmers selling tomatoes at high prices and seeing profitability in the crop, especially with the cultivation of high-yielding and hybrid varieties. The region's suitability for tomato cultivation, along with the introduction of modern technology and high-yielding varieties, has led to a surge in tomato farming, benefiting over 100,000 families and generating significant employment. Banks are providing credit to encourage farmers to continue the cultivation, and the Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute is promoting the use of new, profitable tomato varieties among growers.
