Tanzania: Bashe asked CBT to create an independent commission

MTWARA: The Minister of Agriculture, Hussein Bashe has directed the National Cashew Board (CBT) to form an independent commission led by the National Security Officer to investigate the alleged challenges that are causing negative effects on the sale of raw cashews in the country. Bashe issued the order on November 27, 2023 after receiving complaints from the chairmen of the cooperatives in the Mtwara, Lindi and Ruvuma regions complaining of many challenges including the initial auction to drop the price of cashews, the transportation of cashews at night and the issue of the flow of warehouses. He has asked the CBT Coordinator, Francis Alfred to ensure that the commission is formed today and work within 14 days and submit a report to the ministry for further action.
