They are collaborating with the Marine Stewardship Council to obtain MSC certification for stock sustainability and chain of custody certification for traceability. The ministry is also declaring 2024 as the Indonesian Tuna Year to strengthen the global and domestic competitiveness of tuna products. The government is encouraging sustainable tuna management and investment in tuna cultivation. Indonesia is a member of several Regional Fisheries Management Organizations to manage sustainable tuna resources.
