Spanish beekeepers predict a bad 2021, due to varroa, lack of treatments, low prices, and mortality

The Provincial Association of Beekeepers of Albacete has shown its concern about another bad year for professionals in the province and beekeeping in Castilla-La Mancha in general. The varroa, the lack of treatments, the very low prices and the mortality and reduction of the herd make them foresee a 2021 worse even than the year that is about to end. From the Association they have denounced that like other agricultural and livestock sectors, the "extremely low" prices make some farms almost unfeasible, prices that range between 2.50 and 3 euros depending on whether they are a thousand flowers or monoflorals. But not only the bad prices are worrying, because they have ensured that there are another series of conditions that could condition the future of some farms and their viability for 2021.
