The Bioeconomia Brasil - Sociobiodiversidade program, initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) in 2019, has marked its two-year anniversary, with the program seeing significant success in promoting the sustainable use of biodiversity in family farming. The initiative has aided an average of 90,000 family farmers annually, with a total investment of R$ 15 million by the Mapa, and an additional R$ 100 million through other policies. The program has also seen the signing of eight agreements to implement the Roteiros da Sociobiodiversidade, aiming to assist over 14,000 small producers, and has supported innovative research initiatives like the InovaSocioBio project and the Valeef project, which focuses on alternative crops to tobacco. Additionally, the ArticulaFito project, launched in 2020, aims to integrate family farmers into the value chains of medicinal, aromatic, and culinary plants, receiving over R$ 3 million from the Mapa over the next two years.
