The Central Java Central Statistics Agency reported a decrease in rice harvest area and production in 2023, with 1.64 million hectares harvested producing 9.08 million tons of rice, down from 1.69 hectares and 9.36 million tons the previous year. Grobogan Regency had the largest harvest area, while Cilacap Regency had the highest production. The decline was attributed to the El Nino impact causing water scarcity for cultivation. However, a significant harvest is anticipated in April 2024.
