Brazil has already harvested its first crop of potatoes with a very low carbon footprint, the result of a partnership between Yara and PepsiCo. The initiative uses lower carbon intensity fertilizers and represents an unprecedented advance in the country for potato cultivation. With this, potatoes intended for chip production are already reaching the market, with the potential to reduce the carbon footprint in agricultural production by up to 40%. The project also integrates a broader strategy, involving other countries in Latin America, with a focus on regenerative agriculture. The difference of the initiative lies in the use of fertilizers from the Yara Climate Choice portfolio, developed with technologies that significantly reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
