Rio Grande do Sul, a major agricultural state in Brazil and a key producer of oilseeds, has experienced devastating heavy rains leading to the loss of nearly all unharvested crops across 1.5 million hectares. Following unprecedented rainfall exceeding 31 inches in the first week of May, the state declared an emergency, with ongoing rains threatening further damage. Despite this, Datagro remains optimistic about Brazil's overall soybean production, projecting an increase to 147.9 million tons for the upcoming harvest. This forecast, however, does not take into account the recent losses incurred.
