In 2023, Brazilian meat companies achieved record processing volumes of chicken and pork, and the second-highest level of livestock slaughter in history, as per the national census office data. The country, being the world's largest beef and chicken supplier and the fourth largest pork exporter, saw a nearly 14% increase in cattle slaughter to 34.06 million head. Record exports were also noted with 2.01 million metric tons of fresh beef. Chicken and pig slaughter reached record levels as well, totaling 6.28 billion and 57.17 million heads respectively.
