China is the world's largest importer of beef, accounting for over 30% of global beef imports in 2022. The country imported approximately 2.49 million tons of beef, with Brazil being the largest exporter, contributing to 39.7% of the total imports. This figure rose to over 47% in November of the same year. Despite challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic, China achieved a record-breaking volume of beef imports, marking the largest in its history before the December results were in. The heavy reliance on Brazilian beef imports highlights the growing mutual dependence between the two major economic powers.
