The Paraguayan Association of Buffalo Breeders (Apacribu) is working to increase competitiveness and genetic improvement in buffalo production. The perception of the animal has improved, and Colombia has authorizations to export dairy products to the US. Argentina exports buffalo meat. The association provides tools for growth and focuses on improving the profitability of fields through buffalo. They use technology for genetic improvement, import genetics from Italy, and plan to start embryo transfers. A working group is being promoted to address the problem of buffalo hunting in the MADES National Plan.
