In Alammu Town, the production of high-quality peanuts has led to a significant market response, with prices soaring due to demand from foreign businessmen, particularly from China and Thailand. This international interest has resulted in a decrease in local peanut stock and an increase in market prices, reaching up to 27,500 kyats for a basket of unshelled peanuts and 8,300 kyats per tuft for red-skinned peanuts. To meet the demands of both the domestic and international markets, the local peanut shelling factory is operating at full capacity, processing large quantities of peanuts for export and local consumption.
