Due to bad harvest conditions caused by the rainy season and heatwave, the wholesale price of cabbage in South Korea has increased by over 70% in a week, raising concerns of a repeat of the "kimchi scarcity" experienced in September last year. The rise in cabbage prices is attributed to a decrease in supply due to soft rot, which is more likely to occur in high temperature and humidity conditions. The prices of radishes and green onions are also increasing, leading to expectations of increased costs for making kimchi.
