The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has distributed USD 17 million (EUR 16 million) in grants for habitat restoration projects across the state, with a focus on salmon recovery in the Klamath-Trinity watershed. The funding comes from various sources including the 2022 Nature Based Solutions Initiative, Greenhouse Gas Reduction Funds, the CDFW’s Cannabis Program, and Proposition 68. A total of USD 200 million (EUR 189 million) was allocated for restoration efforts in 2022, with USD 100 million (EUR 94 million) specifically for salmon. The Nature Conservancy is among the recipients, receiving funding for a project in the Scott River Watershed to benefit coho salmon.
