Cameroon inaugurated the 2024-2025 cocoa season on August 8 in Mvengué, celebrating economic prosperity in its cocoa sector with record bean prices over 5,000 CFA francs per kilo. Trade Minister Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana emphasized Cameroon's enhanced status as a global leader in high-quality cocoa. Despite a drop in cocoa bean export volumes in 2023, revenue rose by 12.9% to more than 359 billion CFA francs due to high demand and improved quality. The sector also benefited from significant revenue from cocoa derivatives. Future success depends on maintaining quality, expanding markets, and balancing supply with demand.
