The Ministry of Industry and Trade in Egypt has extended a ban on the export of several food commodities, including beans, gravel and mashed beans, lentils, pasta, wheat, flour, oils, grits and corn, for the next three months. This decision is aimed at ensuring the availability of these food commodities for the Egyptian citizens, according to the Chamber of Grain Industry in the Federation of Egyptian Industries. The chamber's head, Tariq Hassanein, stated that despite the ban, all these commodities are available in the markets and that the state has successfully provided all food commodities during the Corona pandemic. Abdel Ghaffar El Salamouni, Vice President of the Chamber of Grain Industry, added that the local production of pasta is sufficient to meet the citizens' needs and that the state has a strategic stock to supply these food commodities for long periods.
