The suspension of part of Brazil's chicken meat shipments due to Newcastle disease in Anta Gorda, Rio Grande do Sul, is expected to have limited impact, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein and Gaúcha Poultry Association. The suspension may affect up to 20% of Rio Grande do Sul's chicken meat exports, which make up 14% of Brazil's exports and a significant portion of China's demand. However, volumes will be redirected to the domestic market and operations are expected to be reestablished with the implementation of containment protocols. The suspension may be changed and exports to China are expected to resume within 15 to 30 days. The suspension meets international health certificate requirements and is a preventive measure to ensure transparency and guarantee the safety of imported products.
