The Chilean blueberry export season has concluded with over 86 thousand tons of blueberries shipped, slightly below last year's figures but exceeding initial estimates despite challenges such as El Niño and competitive pressures. The season witnessed a notable increase in air shipments, especially to the US, due to market shortages, and a growth in organic blueberry exports, primarily to the US and Europe. However, the season ended with quality and market price issues due to heatwaves and rain. The executive director of the Committee, Andrés Armstrong, highlighted a shift towards recommended and new blueberry varieties, which made up 18% of exports, emphasizing the importance of orchard management and harvesting processes to meet market standards and maintain Chile's market image.
