Chile: Fruit shipments have a volume decrease by 6% compared to the same period in 2022

According to the fruit report from the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies of Chile (ODEPA) for this month of September, in the period January-August 2023, a total of fruit exports of 2 million 541 thousand tons are recorded, for a value of US$ 5,973 million FOB (sales values are subject to adjustments by the Value Variation Report (IVV). Compared to the same period in 2022, there is a decrease in the exported volume of -6%, and in value an increase of 8.8%. Of this total in value, 73.8% corresponds to fresh fruit, 7.9% to processed fruit (juices, oils, preserves, frozen, dehydrated) and 8.2% to nuts (walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, among others). Fresh fruit reached sales of 2 million tons, equivalent to US$ 4,411 million FOB for the period of analysis. These exports registered a decrease in volume of -7.7% , and in value an increase of 10.3% compared to the same period of the previous year.
