In May 2024, Vietnam experienced a significant decrease in cassava and cassava product exports to China, with volumes and values reaching their lowest in three years. Despite this decline, China remains Vietnam's largest market for these products, accounting for 91.37% of the total volume and 90.56% of the total value in the first five months of 2024. The exported products include mainly cassava starch and dried cassava chips. This decrease is attributed to the lower demand for cassava starch in China due to the lower price of corn flour and the hot season's reduced demand. Meanwhile, the domestic price of fresh cassava in Vietnam remained stable during mid-June 2024, and the export prices for iron slices, cassava starch, and cassava starch to China and Korea also remained stable in the last 10 days.
