China is reportedly holding onto more than half of the world's corn and grain reserves, leading to a significant increase in global prices and potential famines in other countries. The US Department of Agriculture anticipates that China will control 69% of the world's corn, 60% of rice, and 51% of wheat in the first half of 2022. This hoarding has contributed to a 30% rise in the food price index, as reported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, compared to the previous year.
