Chungbuk Province in South Korea plans to reduce its rice cultivation area by 3,727 hectares this year as part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ rice cultivation area adjustment system. The province will encourage the cultivation of other crops through the rice paddy other crop cultivation support project and the strategic crop direct payment system. These systems provide substantial subsidies for growing other crops in rice paddies. The application for these support systems will be available at the town/village/dong community center from the 3rd of next month.
