[Rural and Fisheries News=Reporter Park Nara] The Chungnam Provincial Agricultural Technology Institute (Director Kim Young) announced on the 29th that it has provided a sample supply of the new honeybee variety 'Jelly King', which allows for multiple harvests of royal jelly, to beekeeping farms in cities and counties. This supply is part of the 'Promotion of New Honeybee Variety Utilization Project' jointly promoted by the Provincial Agricultural Technology Institute and the Rural Development Administration, with the aim of spreading the results of research and development and increasing its utilization by farms. Jelly King is a variety developed by the Rural Development Administration in 2018, a superior variety bred and propagated through mating and breeding of purebred queen bees in isolated island areas. Its water resistance is similar to that of existing honeybees, but it contains 10-HDA (10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid), a key component of royal jelly.
