Climate Change Management Safety Net Needed to Be Reinforced

The Korea Maritime Institute (KMI) forecasted that this year’s total fisheries production will increase slightly compared to last year. Unlike last year, when aquaculture production died due to climate change, including the worst high water temperatures ever, and major fish species such as squid and anchovies experienced resource changes, production activities are expected to be maintained to some extent. In particular, it is expected that the outlook for the fisheries industry and fishing villages will not be so gloomy, as fisheries production income and non-fisheries income are expected to increase due to price increases resulting from sluggish production.
