Farmers in Bangladesh's southern region are expecting a good watermelon harvest this year, which is expected to make up for the losses incurred during the pandemic. The region, which accounts for about 65% of the country's watermelon production, planted watermelon on approximately 25,000 hectares of land, following limited rain and storms. However, the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) is hopeful that this year's yield will surpass that of the previous year. Despite the potential flooding from tidal surges, watermelon wholesalers are happy with the current prices and the larger size of the watermelons.
