European Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans, Costas Kadis, has stated that he wants to involve the sector in Mallorca to try to move towards successful co-management models of the marine environment that take into account the factor of insularity. In statements this Thursday to the press in Palma, accompanied by the Balearic president, Marga Prohens, and the general secretary of Fisheries of the Government, Isabel Artime, Kadis pointed out that they want to "take into consideration the point of view of the actors" that form the coastal communities. The commissioner, who began his visit to the island this Thursday by participating in the 'I Conference on Fisheries, Insularity and Co-management', will subsequently visit the Marine Reserve of Levante de Mallorca and a marine reserve monitoring vessel, among other activities.
