[Korean Farmers and Fishermen Newspaper, Reporter U Jeong-soo] There is a suggestion that the Garak Wholesale Market for agricultural and marine products, which has seen a decrease in the trading volume of apples and pears, needs a supplement to its price representativeness. The opinion presented is that while using the Garak market prices as the standard price, the average prices of other wholesale markets with high trading volumes of apples and pears and the prices from major production areas should be used as supplementary indicators to mitigate the possibility of price distortion. This is the result of a survey conducted by the Korean Fruit Farmers Association Federation, the Korean Apple Association, and the Korean Pear Association, which commissioned the Korea Rural Economic Institute to check the representativeness of the apple and pear price system.
