Brazil is set to expand its agricultural export markets by adding Costa Rica, achieving a total of 167 open markets. This announcement was made by Agriculture Minister Carlos Fávaro to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The move comes as part of the government's ambition to reach 200 new markets in two years. Brazil and Costa Rica have previously opened two other markets, one in 2024 for agricultural products, and one in February 2023 for therapeutic mesenchymal stem cell products from dogs, cats, and horses. In the first half of 2023, Brazil's agricultural exports to Costa Rica amounted to US$153 million.
