In November, the Central Statistics Office reported a rise in the national average price for most dairy products compared to the same period last year. Milk prices per two litres increased by 13c to €2.31, Irish cheddar cheese by 23c/kg to €10.69, and butter by 5c/Ib to €4.33. There were also price increases for white sliced bread, potatoes, and certain meats. Overall, consumer prices fell slightly by 0.5% between October and November 2024, but the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 1% between November 2023 and November 2024, with the largest increases seen in restaurants and hotels (3.8%) and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.5%). The largest declines were in clothing and footwear (-7.5%) and transport (-1.6%).
