There has been a significant increase in the cultivation of pumpkins in Denmark, with the area under cultivation rising by 50% from 234 hectares in 2015 to 342 hectares in 2020, as per the Danish Agricultural Agency, Landbrugsstyrelsen. This surge is primarily driven by a rise in the production of 'Halloween pumpkins', with the number of Hokkaido pumpkins, used for cooking, also seeing an uptick. These two types of pumpkins now account for over 92% of the total pumpkin cultivation in the country.
