Kang Hyung-seok, Director of Agricultural Innovation Policy, has been appointed as the first Vice Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock under the Lee Jae-myung government. Kang Yoo-jung, Presidential Office spokesperson, announced through a written briefing on the 20th that Kang has been appointed as Vice Minister of Agriculture and Food. The new Vice Minister, born in 1972 in Geochang, Gyeongnam, graduated from Myeongsin High School and Korea University's Business Administration Department, and received his master's and doctoral degrees from Seoul National University's Graduate School of Public Administration and the University of Birmingham (Policy Studies). He entered public service in 1994 as a 38th-batch civil servant, serving in roles such as Inspector General at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Agricultural Life Policy Director, Rural Policy Bureau Director, and Planning and Coordination Bureau Director, and has served as Director of Agricultural Innovation Policy since December of last year.
