The Korean Freshwater Eel Producers Association (President Shin Young-rae, hereinafter referred to as the Association) held a workshop on November 11 at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center in Gwangju Metropolitan City to seek solutions to domestic freshwater eel issues and directions for resource management. The workshop, attended by over 120 freshwater eel producers along with related organizations such as the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Freshwater Eel Culture Cooperative, featured presentations and comprehensive discussions on medium and long-term solutions to domestic freshwater eel fry problems and resource management plans. President Shin Young-rae addressed the recent increase in the influx of Chinese processed eels and the corresponding drop in prices for silver eels due to the rise in the number of silver eels entering the river, as well as measures for market information sharing and endangered wild flora and fauna.
