The Korea Fisheries Resources Authority (FIRA) has distributed 2.5 million fertilized halibut eggs with genetic diversity to seed producers through its Released Seed Certification System. This system ensures the supply of genetically diverse aquatic seeds for aquaculture, addressing a issue where inbreeding had reduced the certified diversity of released seeds to 60.61% in 2016. Since 2016, the system has distributed over 200 million certified fertilized flounder eggs and certified 45.67 million healthy flounder for release, aiming to enhance aquatic resources and increase income for fishermen.
