The article highlights the collaboration between the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV) and the Ethiopian government to improve the dairy sector through the BRIDGE+ program. The program aims to increase milk productivity and quality, support smallholder farmers, and establish a safe and high-quality milk production sector in Ethiopia. The partnership introduces regulatory standards to reduce adulteration, strengthens cooperatives, and aligns processors with new standards, with the ultimate goal of boosting household income, improving food security, and promoting sustainable growth. The article also emphasizes the challenges faced by smallholder farmers and the potential for the dairy sector to be a key driver of economic growth and environmental stewardship. A successful side-event at the International African Livestock Exhibition and Congress (ALEC) in Addis Ababa brought together stakeholders to discuss the program's progress and strategies for further improving milk quality in Ethiopia.
