(Kimje=Yonhap News) Reporter Baek Do-in = Jeonbuk Kimje City announced on the 20th that 63 programs have been confirmed for the 27th Jepyeongsun Festival to be held in October.
Traditional programs that reflect the identity of the agricultural culture festival, such as "Byeongolje Legend Ssangnongnori" and "Pyeongnyeonkiwon Ipseok Juldarigi," will be maintained this year.
Considering that the festival will be held during the Chuseok holiday, events for families to enjoy together, such as "Jepyeongsun Han-gaewi Family Fun Fair," "Jepyeongsun Family Cooking Competition," and "Jepyeongsun Sowon Yeon Hanmadang," will be largely arranged.
Experience events such as "Jepyeongsun Paper Bicheon Flying Competition," which honors the Bicheon (flying car) of Jeongpyeonggu, who is said to have been the world's first to fly, "Jepyeongsun Sarikongi Game," which recreates the squid game with various folk games, "Grasshopper Catching," and "Agungi Rice Cooking," will also be diversely presented.
The Bicheon, which means a car that flies, is an object said to have been invented by Jeongpyeonggu, an inventor from the Joseon Dynasty, and used during the Imjin War.
Since the Wright brothers of the United States succeeded in their first flight with the Flyer in 1903, if the Bicheon existed, it would be the world's first airplane, at least 300 years ahead.
Various cultural performances, including the opening celebration performance, "Fantasy Multimedia Show," will also be arranged.
"Jepyeongsun Mingpumjangteo," which sells local agricultural products at low prices, and "Matjipjangteo," which showcases food from the representative restaurants in the area, will also be set up.
The Jepyeongsun Festival is the nation's top agricultural culture experience event, and this year it will be held from October 8 to 12 during the Chuseok holiday at Byeongolje.
Mayor Jeong Seong-ju said, "We will prepare plenty of programs for the whole family to participate in for Chuseok" and "We will make it a festival that gives excitement and joy to citizens and tourists and widely publicizes the agricultural culture and charm of Kimje."
