The latest global statistics indicate that tomato production in Egypt exceeds 6.2 million tons annually, placing it among the top ten producing countries worldwide.
Despite this large figure, Egyptian tomato exports remained limited at around $55 million last year, due to high domestic consumption, as tomatoes have become a staple in Egyptian cuisine.
