Among this, aquaculture production increased by about 50% from 1.1 million tons to 1.57 million tons over the same period, currently accounting for about 80% of total fish production. The value of aquaculture is approximately $3.5 billion (about 5.249 trillion won). The main farmed fish species are red drum at 61.7%, mullet at 22%, carp at 9%, and other species at 7.3%. The FAO projected that Egypt's aquaculture production will increase by about 10% by 2032, and this is expected to result in a demand for 397,600 tons of fish feed.
