The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) has signed a technical cooperation agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Initially, the treaty will be directed towards the recovery of degraded areas in the Cerrado. "We are going to do a specific project for the Cerrado biome. We will address issues such as the use of remote sensing for soil health, we will also do an initial diagnostic activity of how these pastures within the cerrado are, in addition to a decision support system for producers who adopt this program and, finally, we will do a scenario change analysis to see how we can mitigate these climate changes," highlighted Embrapa Cerrado researcher, Edson Sano. The agreement provides for the execution of pilot projects in five cities: Paracatu (MG), Jataí (GO), Lucas do Rio Verde (MT), Luís Eduardo Magalhães (BA), and Palmas (TO).
